This post is designed specifially to wind up Tensandtwenties.
Hey, John. What was it the guy from the muffler shop said about your car? I can't quite remember.
But seriously, I think the car is quite cool. It is the first 510 that makes me go "Hmmmm I could drive that."
Riclage, if you do get to come to A&M give us a shout. We're only 200 or so miles north of there. Not too far for a weekend trip.
Incidentally, that goes for anyone else who comes to visit Texas. I love it when folks from the club come to look at my junk.

BTW, here's a pic of my car now. It doesn't look like much... but it will soon.

Most newer imports switched to 4x100mm, as you say. Some kept the 4x4.5, though? Mitsubishi uses it, some Nissans (Altima, & 240SX), the larger Hondas (Accord & Prelude), you just have to look around. Most compacts now are the small pattern, but larger Japanese cars still use the old 4x4.5" pattern. Hope that helps.

I said almost unique.

Most of the old japanese cars are equal. Toyota corola, Datsun 1200, etc...

I was comparing it with the new ones. The new cars have the studs less spaced.

Are you sure it's unique? Almost all the old 4 stud japanese rear wheel drive cars fit the 1200, including some of newer ones. Or has the B310 a diff. stud pattern?

Thank you T&T.

I asked that because I've been searching for some 14 inch wheels for my B310 and the stud patern is almost unique. I was hoping that i could fit diferent stud patern wheels on it without to much complications.

I want to swap only the rear wheels to increase the final "gear ratio" since my car is now doing 6600 RPM in 4th (top) gear. I am thinking about using 185/70 R14 wheels at the rear, since they are going to increase the final ratio for so much as 12%. (12% more speed for the same RPM)

I am now using 155/80 R13 all around the car.

Thanks for your reply

Best regards

Ricardo

PS: I noticed that you are from Texas. I am doing a PhD in mechanical engineering and I was supposed to go to Texas A&M for some months, however now I can not go, since I have a lot of things to do over here and I think that i am not going anyway.

You are correct in that pretty much all Datsuns have 4-lug hubs (& wheels). Those wheels are from a 1990-1996 300ZX (Z32). They are 5x4.5" bolt pattern instead of the 510's 4x4.5".

How is it possible? Well, the car has 1985~ 300ZX (Z31) struts on the front. They have the 5-lug bolt pattern, and are not too difficult to modify to fit a 510. The rear has had the hub and rotors (it has a rear disc conversion) re-drilled to the 5lug pattern and uses longer studs with 1" spacers. It's a very tight fit because those wheels are 16x8.5". It looks good but is not recommended for anything but show.

I know how it was done from talking to the owner, but that is not my car. My 510 is still undergoing it's metamorphosis. It will be that low, that color, and have 16" wheels (albeit 16x6.5", not 8.5"). That's just what I hope mine looks like when it grows up.
