Ahh, music. My other favourite hobby!!

I love a good sound system!!

There rear speakers in the side panels are a great position. I made up some wood inserts for 6x9s and bolted them to the metal. This sorta creates some sort of box in the 1200 body and boosts the low frequencies.

The front speakers i found annoying. I bought some 6" round spacers and bolted them onto the standard kick panel. Now 6" speakers fit easily.

A sub box in the boot facing the boot lid is the best position. Again, the boot acts as a box and boosts low frequencies. We all want big bass right!!!

Chuck an amp or 2 under the seats, wire up and crank those techno choons!!!

This isn't exactly on topic, but anyway I've just fitted a 6 inch sub inder my seat! Adds the bassline I was previously missing! It's powered with a built in amp and it fits neatly under the seat.

i added speakers to the stock holes awhile back. If you measure the opening and the depth, you should be able to find something pretty easy. I dont remember the size, sorry, but i remember the screw holes didn't exactly line up. I used a drill and some self-tapping screws to make new holes.

i tried putting in a couple of 6inch speakers in the panels which are behing the doors on the coupe, next to where the back seat normally is, they work great just running off the deck (45watts per channel) they are awesome i can turn them up till my ears hurt and theres no distortion there so clear, but anyway im thinking of making some new panels cause the old ones crack up and all the clips rip through the crappy wood they used.

all i need now is a subwoofer, im thinking of making a box for the 10inch ive got and mounting the amp to the box so i can unplugged the wires and take out the box to remove the extra weight when hooning or more importantly rallying
should make a good stereo install

my question is though has anyone tried replacing the front speakers with better ones, i think they are 4.5inch?, is it possible to get a speaker that will slot in and mount up using the existing screw holes or do i have to modify the surrounding metal?

has anyone tried to fit bigger speakers in the same spot? is that possible or not enough room between the framework?
