Nice build. You make it look alot easier than it actually is.

I suppose it helps to know where all your bits and bops go as you said you labeled everything.

My previous owner did not give that luxury when I bought my new project but after alot of research I have started piecing it together and finding out what is missing.

Nonetheless, good job. Curious as to what you do in the States?

Nah leave it as it is. Looks really nice and respectable. Its great having a wife/ girlfriend that has the same appreciation for datsuns. Im glad my wife loves our 1k wagon as much as i do! Makes it easier to convince why you just soooo baaadly need that big block a15 engine in their! ;)

hoping to have as many minor things as you did for safety cert. im up on the sunny coast and about to go for cert next week. A pity ill have to go to a dodgy mechanic and bribe him to put original engine number on cert because my a12 block has had the number shaved offffff!

Great work!

It's very dangerous mixing Datto's and your Misus but great work. Seems like a quality build.

Here is a comparison from start to finish of the project.

We are keen to join a datto or Jap car club here in Brisbane so if you have room for us, please let us know.

So the little Datto 1200 ute is back on the road and should hopefully last another 30 years. The Mrs is happy and i am pretty satisfied with the end result.

I got the new front windscreen installed and organised everything to get this little beauty registered. As we live in QLD we needed a Safety Certificate before they will give us that little coloured sticker with a date on it. We organised our CTP insurance and booked it in for its safety inspection. The guy who was supposed to perform the test was 6 1/2 feet tall and couldn't get into it (I'm 6 foot and it is a tight fit) so they told me that I would have to wait until there shortest guy got in. An hour later they pulled me aside and said it failed inspection. I asked why and he said it was missing one of the brake line retainer clips was missing (where the soft line joins the hard line) on the front passengers side. A bit annoyed, I jumped in the car and drove down to Repco and picked one up, installed it and took it back to the inspectors. Passed and Safety Certificate issued! I drove straight to the Transport and Main Roads offices and organised the rego (6 months).

With everything done (except the front windscreen being installed) it was time to get it out of the shed to have a look at her in the fading sun light.
