just having a surf and I came across your question, the utes were definatley avalable in Oz until 85 as I have owned two of them and everything you have said is correct.
The engines in the later models 80 onwards I(Ithink) did definatley have the 120y style engine so a14/15 will drop straight in

I managed to buy a 1990 Nissan Sunny Ute (ex Japan) in NZ Early this year. The best thing is they are still the same design as they where years ago. All parts interchange still.

I'm not 100% sure, but from what I believe, the 1200 ute was made until at least 85. But other 1200's weren't. They were replaced by 120Y's and Sunny's...

Just a question regarding datsun 1200 production years in Australia. I have a 85 model datsun 1200 ute. Is this the last year they released them in Aus. It has tacho dash, retractable belts etc.
Any help would be appreciated as every time I need spares I'm told the 1200's werent released in 85.

Thanks.
