for more volume to suit twin sprays, try a bluebird wagon washer bottle,or for that matter any wagon or hatch with a rear windscreen washer,& hook one motor to one spray,& the other to the second.as for the best spray pattern, the spray being on the wiper arm is the best,& is an old rally trick.just run the plastic hose up the wiper arm, with a nozzle atttached half way up.the water then reaches the whole swept area, not just one or two spots.as for intermitent wipers, try n12 pulsars, they probably can be adapted to the 1200 wiring.come to think of it,i've always thought a sunny (b310) column would be good in the 1200,that would bring both wiper/washer & headlights up onto the steering column, within easy reach.you'd probably have to use a 120y or sunny steering box, however,as they have that rubber doughnut looking thing in them. i've used a n12 pulsar intermittent wiper system in my sunny panel van for years, with the bluebird washer bottle,& some n12's came with variable intermittent wipers for that extra little bit of complication.

With the CA18DE and Skyline 5 speed. 140mph was possible. I went down a hill and pushed it back around to zero (~150-160mph) once..this was in an old thread.

I think the springs in the wiper arms have something to do with it.
Maybe we can get "Nismo Performance wiper springs" Sounds like another "kalecoauto.com" innovation.

Having bigger (higher volume) blades will help swipe off the rain.

Chris.

when rallying you often get a splash of water/mud across the screen which just requires a quick swipe or two to remove but you dont want to have to muck around because you dont have time to take one kand off the wheel to do that sort of stuff, i know its being picky but its one of things that would be nice to have

If your interested, I could make a electronic circuit for you that does this, (and varible speed intermittant if you want). I could do this for the price of the parts which would be no more than $10 - $15, plus postage. Send me a PM if your interested, and well arrange somthing.

A 1200 sedan? Surely you mean 120 kph (just kidding, I know your car is far more powerful than a stocker).

Isn't that what those wiper arms with the airfoil are for? High speed usage. The airfoil is supposed to keep the wiper arm against the windscreen. I never tried them myself (that is, not at high speed).

On the other hand, the 1200 wipers are inadequate at normal speeds in heavy rain. I would think other car's blades (or aftermarket) would fit on the splined posts. A longer blade might help. But I think the motor might need a little more juice.

Variable speed and intermittent is possible with a little add-on box, like JC Whitney sells. To do intermittent, you either need to use the manual method (turn it off and on every so often) or use an electronic circuit. Some older vehicles had mechanical intermittent IIRC, but this wouldn't be easy to make. I seem to recall a cam-based system on some older cars. (I used to rebuild and test wiper motors, but that was 20 years ago). It might be pretty easy to swap in a different OEM unit (say from some newer Nissan model).

surely that cant be right????????????

im thinking swap the water bottle for twin nozzles and trying to find a replacement spring might work for now but im going to investigate putting in a diffrent motor for the arms for a bit quicker swing

I was cruising on a freeway road in the rain at 120mph once (1200 sedan CA18DE non-turbo) and I found the wipers were almost useless, I had to slow down.
Using a "rain-ex" treatment on the glass can help to improve the visibility through a rain covered window, this is important between wiper sweeps.

If we estimate that a 1/4 cup of water hits your windscreen for every square meter you pass through. Assuming the surface area of a 1200 windcreen is 1.0 square meter, at 180kmh you pass through 750 cups of water / second. 1 cup = 236.5mls therefore 177.37 litres of water hits your windscreen every second at 180km/h.

This is why 1200 windscreen wipers aren't much good when you drive fast in the rain.

You can insert a needle into the squirter nozzle and alter where they point...

Isn't the problem with most older cars and windscreen wipers the springs? That they loose springyness (Techinal word)?

Also, I have found that the silicon wiper blades work heaps better than any single, twin, multi, etc rubber ones that I have tried...

change the water tank for better pressure as phunk said and maybe cut more holes and fit more tubing to possibly three sprays ( six holes, 3 nozzles) depending upon how u wan your car to look and whether its just built for rallying if it was me and i wanted what u want id make more nozzles on the bonnet... should be easy enough

hello,
you must try a spray in the wiper like the mitsubishi canter, you put the spray in the arm of the wiper , in normal circulation it guves excelente results .

bye

cool,

i doubt sedans have this either, it would work still but if you are not happy with the pressure just change the washer pump or bottle and pump for one with the desired pressure.
