RB20E 78mm bore, same pin size, same pin height
domed with valve cutouts
* Nissan 12010-55S01

$92/set of four from Alibaba

Not really the right shape for wedge heads like the A14 but potentially an inexpensive source for high-compression pistons -- maybe massage the dome a bit

Precision supply Bursons and probably everybody else and do most of what you would need and also supply ARP rod bolts, K&N Filters and Transmission kits and a whole host of parts for A10, A12, A12a A13 , A14 etc so worth bookmarking and the online search is 4 pages just for A14 and nicely they give you dimensions such as Valve Head Diameter, Stem Length and Diameter all of which allows you to figure out what else may fit if for instance a 0.5 MM oversize valve head means you don't have to replace valve seats due to recession or too many refaces over the years because a slightly bigger head valve moves the seat to an unworn part of the valve seat insert.

So much usefull information can be found on their site for any number of suppliers brands.

I assume he just wants to recondition his engine, rather than really modify it. I imagine not every block will take 3mm over-bore anyway.

I'm doing a budget modified engine and wouldn't bother trying to stretch it 3mm! I chose these 1.4mm oversize (76.9+0.50=77.4mm) because that's the cheap, readily available piston option here, gives about 1450cc and the basically flat top piston (after milling) ups the CR to work better with a cam grind.

Going .030" over is not worth it. You have the expense of machining, yet the +0.73 mm bore is only a gain of [correction:] 27 cc

As long as your paying to machine the block, go with +3 mm oversize (gain of 110 cc)

That isn't going to work.
The largest BMC A series used a 70.6mm bore.
Datsun A14 is 76mm bore.

I just bought the Mitsubishi pistons and ring set for $100 locally. Good quality ACL Duralites :) mmmm shiney!

One of the best places is Brprojects, in-stock, easy ordering, arrives in the post. http://www.datsun1200.asia/category/select/cid/260

A14 79mm piston kit by Kameira

Not a huge selection, but might as well go big

Look into the ca16de piston. I've got a set here and at 78mm they look like a good cross fit for the a14/15. They have a slight dome that would need to be milled for whatever c/r was needed.

Strong piston too with drilled oil returns instead of slotted. Also have full floating pins. Obviously a performance piston even though it's not forged. Clearance will be more than a slotted piston but less than a forged so the durability would be good too.

I returned a new set of ca16 from ebay because they were slotted. So probably only OEM or good drilled aftermarket if they're out there.
