No, I'm not trying to "do justice" to a guy trying to get as much money as he can for his car. I'm trying to prevent members here buying something on the claim that it is one of the most powerful A series around! The dyno readout is unequivocally fudged. By how much is the only question. The engine and box are the only real selling points of the car, so it's worth pointing out that discrepancy. It might help some members who don't know quite so much about this sort of stuff make a more informed decision about the car. I haven't said anything about what it's worth other than you can buy or build other more modified 120Ys for less. I'm sorry you're so offended by that for some reason. That doesn't mean someone won't want this quad TB injected 120y 5spd - it might be exactly what someone's looking for, and they might not care that the dyno operator fudged that readout. ITB's are cool. 5spds are hard to find, and certainly make them a better thing to drive. I'm sure it goes OK and sounds awesome. And I reckon you'd struggle to build a quad throttle injected 5spd 120Y for the same price. Everyone can make their own decision on what it's worth.

It looks good If it drives fast, that's what matters No matter which 5-speed it has, they are all an upgrade from a 4-speed Buyers will presumably make a test drive so they won't misled -- if it accelerates hard then his price is fair

OK what about the 5 speed , is it a 56 or 60 or 63 , is it a dogleg ?? thats a good selling point too for the car. But no one has asked that question. This car is for sale, obviously, you have no intentions in buying it. You just want to know the engine spec's. And I dont care if you can build a engine cheaper or have a better condition car. Point is the car is for Sale !! And comments like yours are doing real justice for this bloke trying to sell his car for the best price he can.

If the only real selling point for your $6500 120Y is the "117bhp" engine and 5spd, but it turns out to be a stock head, yes that matters! Unless you don't mind being completely ripped off.
I sold my rust free 120Y 2dr sedan last August with turbo L20B, 5spd, mod plated, roll caged, S13 brakes, good suspension, rare 120Y 2dr sedan for less than he's asking... Pretty sure this (extremely) orange coupe was advertised for the same price back then too btw It certainly has been for sale since well into last year. I'm such a tyre kicker, I since bought a better condition 120Y coupe and modified it far more extensively than this one for less money.

Maybe the gent is like me and knows little about engines. Me myself know basic parts but not combinations. My last engine, I just walked into a performance place and stated I wanted a 120hp motor and coughed up the asking amount Rebuilt A15 oval port head injected with big cam that produces 117 hp. OK we know the engine is reco. Oval port head, does it matter how much its ported or size of valves ??Does it really matter if they are stainless valves with triple springs or a stock H89 ?? Big cam. does it matter what the spec's are ?? It is basically a drop in motor and off you go. I am sure if you were genuine and not a tyre kicker and actually went to see the car, you may get further information.

That means a 5.2% overage (if my calculations are correct) so the indicated 117.3 HP should be more like 111.5 HP. Either way pretty healthy for an A15
will be substantially more than 5bhp I'd imagine, but without knowing what the Dyno Dynamics does with that value, it's all just guesswork. lots of guys with race engines struggle to make more than 100rwbhp. So without knowing what headwork (none mentioned), CR (not mentioned) or cam (just says "huge"), who knows... But if it really had the amount of work required to make that kind of power you'd mention some of that in your ad wouldn't you - not just "Rebuilt A15 oval port, fuel injected with a huge cam"

I thought with those number plates this car must have been owned by Geoff (Member 120Fly) who used to make all those great fibreglass parts for us....but looks like it's Luke that owns this 120y.
