Oh boy, I might have something mixed up regarding the black cartridges in my picture that I have labeled as "KYB 361005". I may have mixed something up on my end. I'll have to check it out.

Angelo has a Datsun 1200

1200 Sedan, Coupe and Ute strut inserts are all the same. Same specs too. 120Y is the same, but USA B210 is totally different (uses the PB210 large-size supsension with 2.0 inch strut tubes)

How'd you do it? If you cut 100mm off the top, then the nut threads are gone. If you cut 100mm out of the middle, then do you need to weld the two halfs of the strut tube together?

Since the Golf inserts have a larger shaft, how did you get the lock nut back on? Did you drill it out larger?

The black cartridge says KYB, so is it the the one you put back in the strut?

Hey ang.

what do you mean by the stock length cart?
the kyb strut i got was around 101mm shorter than the 120y(or 1200 since its the same front end strut/shocks) ones that i had ! :)

did you replace your rear shocks? if you did what did you use?

i flipped my rear leafs and its so low that now its on the bump stops haha. may have to cut some of it out.

and was this for your 1200 ute/sedan or b210/120y?

I remember the 361005 being the stock length cart insert. I guess not.
Either way, I used the bilsteins because the koni's were too fat in diameter.

your's turned out good.

I have some great news guys.

I bought some KYB Shocks part number 361005.

They are for a Volkswagen Golf (or Rabbit in america i beleive) , Mark 1 (or Mark I) 1975

They are 100mm shorter than the 120y/1200
my old 120y shocks were 38.25mm in OD
the golf shocks were 38.35mm in OD

I cut 100mm from my strut tube and my shock lock nut that screws in up the top of the strut holds the strut down perfect.
Probably could of cut another 10-20mm from the strut but then probably wont be able to fit any wheels haha.
there was also weld marks at the top of the shock that i had to slightly grind off so the shock could go all the way down into the strut tube.

i have attached a photo of my coilovers and the shock comparesson.

my coilovers are done and painted im in the middle of flipping my rear leafs right now, i wish i took a photo of the coilovers painted they looked really nice in a black finish :D

I will take the photos of my car when its on the ground so everyone can see how low it is going to be haha.

hopefully be on the road by tomorrow night ready for datsun day here in sydney on the 6th !

hope this helps some people.

I have ordered the 361005

Going to hope that these are right if not im going to have to go with the n10 pulsar shocks which sucks because tehre only like 80mm shorter compared to 100

Actually i could be wrong aswell as miss-informed.

i think the specs that they have spent me are for the boxes.

http://www.autozone.com/suspension-st ... k-strut-front/734962_0_0/

as per this website the tube is 1.5inch (38.1mm)

I am still doing research !

these specs of Gaberiel #G44754 (and aparently G44765 are the same but who nows) are no longer true
Gabriel has re-designed the shock to be 41.5mm due to the strut sitting in the VW GOLF MARK1 housing too loose.
I now this info is true because my friend about a year ago made a coilover kit using this shock and it was around 38.40mm
i bought this shock and it was too big (around 41.60mm aprox so 41.50 sounds right) so i sent it back..
