other possibilities for the twin choke cable are 180b sss,200b sss,or more common is ka-kc laser/323 mazda with twin carbs.the later would probably have to be extended, but this can be done, strangely enough,by a fork lift mechanic,or maybe thats the guy around the corner from me who is also a fork lift mechanic.whatever, these buggers are easier to come by than genuine sss cables.

That's funny! Good to hear the old teretonga humor.

It's not normal for the choke knob to move by itself, but I've seen it happen. Maybe they just wear out.

If you lubricate the cable with Fanta that would make it sticky and so cause the opposite problem -- so that might be a "solution". A new cable would fix it, but definitely wouldn't be as cool as the Peg.

Look under the hood of a Z-car next time you're at a junkyard. The early cars used a dual SU setup with the above mentioned split pull choke cable. I'd think you should be able to adapt one of those. It will be about forty-two miles too long though. The Z has the choke lever next to the parking brake if I'm not mistaken.
(EDIT)
Sorry Amshaw, that was more an answer to 1200rallycar's problem.

Ok so they are SU's then. I didnt have a clue

Im not trying to be funny but is it possible to make a bi choke cable setup ?? eg have two cables comeing from SU's then on the dash with a double choke button puller.

U could always have it set up next to the streering colum (low down) so not to have extra holes in dash etc. Sounds dumb but thats what I would look at and try at least

Great Idea !!

I might go for the old wooden one, a few coats of varnish and a bit of stain , The duck's gut's !!

Or I might hit a few times with a bit of 4x2 with a nail in the end and I would have a stressd look choke choker

Andrew, grab a high quality peg off the clothesline and then use it to set the choke where you need it. This system is very effective and fully adjustable for winter and summer settings. Flouro pink ones are good as they're easy to see if driver oversight occurs and you pull into work still under choke conditions. Mind you the co-workers would only think you had a cam!

G'Day All,
MY choke on my ute seems to let it self off.

When I start it at about 1/2 choke and then take off ,before I get to the next corner it has almost turned off compelty. Is this normal ??

Is there a way I can crimp the cable or something else to stop it ?? It seems I have to pull the choke out every few hundred yards or so to keep the barsterd going

The ute doesnt get a chance to warm up properly as it is only about 4km to work . So there is alot of stoping and starting and alot of restarting

Any idea's , thanks Brother's & Sister's.
Regards
amshaw
