How about using old Skis :))

Would be great to see what composites they use
for the limb replacement units.

Ivan, That could be very useful. Im sure i`d learn a lot from something like that. I`d be happy to come for a drive if you can find something. I`d love to know what resins they use. Something like that could be pre-preg rather than a wet lay up.

If you had a contact for where they are made would be awsome too.

At work we use uni-directoinal carbon fiber in an L shape for our amputees who wish to go running.
It is less than a mm thick and about 40mm wide and is flexible to give the spring that is required for running.

If I can find an old one at work I could send it to you to see how much weight uni carbon will take.

Hope all this makes sence.

I shall ask
But it might have been covered

Are 1000 and 1200 springs the same length and arc ?

I think it will be all or nothing D. Should be plenty strong enough. If i make some, i`ll be sure to to some serious bench testing before heading into turn 1 at Philip Island!

How about using on each side the main leaf spring (reverse eyes)
to support a stack of composite ones? It would be lighter than
stock & the security of the original steel leaf for backup.
This could be achieved and still save around 5-10 kg a side
depending on how hard you go.

Thanks for posting,

I`ll weigh the car, do some math and send of a custom order form to some manufacturers and see what they come back with.

As for making them,
Ive found i can get a carbon and Glass unidirectional tape for wet lay up. The moulds would be not too hard to make for high pressure curing. I`d also need to know what epoxy resin to use.
Making them certainly would be a steep learning curve. I might not go through with it, but I might aswell research if it is possable to make them.
