Short wheel base landrover used them for a brake master cylinder.
Not all of them though so it might be hard to track down.
Price of fuel nowdays its probably cheaper to buy a new one than drive around looking for one. Plus chances are its stuffed when you find one anyway.

Do you have an IBS (Inderpendant Brake Suppliers) anywhere near you ? They would be your cheapest source as long as they aren't just wholesale and will see to general public.

is it for a hydr handbrake or something else

i actually have one (not installed), i bought the frame and handel with master attached for $100 similar to the one you described, that was second hand.

i should get round to mounting that and plumbing it in sometime soon!!!

Nope these cylinders are no good for handbrakes
For a hyd handbrake you want a cylinder that doesn't have a resi so you can just plumb it into the existing rear line.

P4872 is the baby you need. Its a landrover master cylinder. Don't pay any more than $70 for a new one.
Then you need a P6118 tube nut and a P4285 tube nut and you have the plumbing sorted. Inlet is at end of cyl and outlet is in centre of cylinder on an angle.

would those master cylinders you have be good for making hydraulic handbrakes, if so i want a few for me and my mates!

If you make a bracket to locate the slave to push in the right direction then any slave will do.
Go for something cheap and 3/4" in the Nissan range to keep it easy. Like a JB4055 or JB4056. Check those out.

Slave and master can be from any vehicle not necessarily the same vehicle

Ok, I'm still doing a little bit of research, but yeah, if it is goin to work the way I think it will, I'am all up for it. Which brings me to another question. Can you for example, use a 1200 clutch MS and a different slave/actuator that acutally pushes the clutch fork? Can the two different parts work together if you are able to join them via a hose, or are they designed to specifically work as a unit (ie both VL parts)

I belive I have identified the master cylinder.
Get this one........
The part # is JB1200.......I found it funny anyway

from mount flange on firewall to end of cyl is 120mm
Bolt spacing is 57mm (vertical)
height from bottom of body to top of resi is 105mm
For us Aussies the outlet is towards the engine.
Price $20 plus freight

Check the dimensions, it's a close fit.
I couldn't get my hands on a 1200 (USA version) Clutch master cylinder, and I've not found another that will do. The 180B one doesnt fit without drastic mods. I know that at least.

I had to modify my pedal box to suit a AE86-Sprinter Clutch MC. And it wouldn't have fit, had I used the 120Y brake booster and MC. This is why the LA/LB Lancer Booster + MC is a good brake conversion.

Thanks for your replies guys. At least now I know where I am heading with it. Pretty much the only thing I need is that master cylinder as the g/b I am getting should already have the slave cylinder. Do you think there would be enough room next the the brake MS (85 ute), or above it where the clutch cable comes out, to mount the clutch MS?

dattoman, what kind of prices would I be looking at for one of these master cylinders, and can you let me know of the dimensions, and also maybe the part/model number as I am very interested.
