Some electronic distributors use a more-or-less standard coil. If it works, no worries. Others the "high energy ignition" use a special voltage coil.

How did your L18 transplant go? Is this the first one? I remember you were going to do a swap a year or two ago.

Spark was quite good as well.

Would you generally be able to start it and would it run using the standard points coil?

electronic distributors use a 12v coil and points uses a 7 - 6 volt coil

We have an L18 in a 1200 coupe.
Have just put a series 2 bluebird electronic dizzy on it.
I have been told that I need to swap over the coil to the same that is on the series 2 bluebird.
Can anyone tell me why I need to do this?
