I got some Weber carburated engines at this site, no DGAS's, but some others.

CA engines and others w/DCOE's and some IDA's.

The 38DGAS is an excellent carb with synchronous shafts. They were stock carb on the V6 ford Capri in OZ.
They were a popular conversion for 2 litre Pinto engined escorts here as well.
DCOE gives greater flexibility in choice of choke and jet sizes though.

After having seen several installations, the DCOE would look better, as it is mounted sideways ... always a factor everything else being equal.

Technically it should be a little better since the air/fuel mixutre doesn't have to make a 90 degree turn as with a downdraft carb.

im not to sure about the workings of a DGAS........but i can recommend using the "IDA" or "DCNF" type syncronous down draught Weber carbs as they have been widely used and tuned for many types of engines.

Cheers.

38 DGAS vrs single DCOE. Anybody has experience using a 38 syncronious Weber DGAS? It is a downdraft carburator. Would it be better than a single DCOE? One of my engines is ready for headers, but it is pretty stock otherwise, and untill better additions (cam, head work, etc) I am planing to add more power with the headers(extractors) and a nice carbie, not ready for a twin DCOE (stock engine might drown with a twin set up), but a single DCOE will work, as well as the 38 DGAS. Any opinions are welcome.I do not know the DGAS' but it was recommended by a friend. This friend, does not know the DCOE's, so he can not relate their differences as to give me a answer.
Thanks.
Jaime
