Actually, it's only the sheet metal that's longer in the Excellent. The wheelbase is the same, the engine compartment the same. The grille and bonnet is a bit more pointed, hence the extra length. B210 Excellent article

1) 120y equipped with an L-Series from the factory was the "Sunny Excellent" (JDM only?) model with longer front end.
If the swap is so easy with the shorter front end models, you wonder why Nissan even bothered.
2) series 1 180b/610 uses 1600/510 struts/hubs/brakes.

no, the 180B Team dat is buying is a series one, not a series two.
the series one has very thin struts (like 1200 almost) and the later has similar struts to the stanza - but not exactly.
if a lowering is required, chances are it will be 43mm lowered king springs that are required. i needed these in my 1200-stanza swap - and you can get them from wilkinsons in bayswater for i think $160ish a pair.
also Team dat, that 180B has a new rad in it (well...new-ish) so it should be up to the task if it fits.

I think the 180B struts are the same as the stanza strust? The girlock calipers are awesome. Are any of the 180B SSS panels any good???

right after some careful reading and searching thru this site it would seem i would use
L18 and gearbox, engine cross member and sway bar from a 180b, stanza struts with 200b calipers (big girlock ones) 120Y sedan diff and what tailshaft?
i have a 180b lined up so if you can tell me what i can get from it to make my life easier then let me know so i can get as much off of it as possible. cheers Aaron

the coupes have the H145 or 150 diff? (or something like that) Anyway, it won't get you out of the driveway with an L series!
Get the 120Y sedan BorgWarner diff. The same unit was installed in many larger local cars and will take quite a bit of punishment even with a worked L series.
Stanza struts will bolt onto the 180B control arms. But get some lowered heavy duty springs for them.
I'd be very surprised if an A14 rad (what is it out of?) will cope. I use a Volvo 244DL rad which was the perfect height for the 1200, but you could measure up a 180B/200B/Stanza or similar radiator. Just get the tape measure out and spend 1/2 an hour at your local wrecking yard.

all 120Y's share the one floorpan with the large tunnel as far as I know. No massaging required. The coupes (which were fully imported) definitely do.
good L18 blocks that will take big overbores like that are hard to find. In light cars like these, even mild L20's will be a bloody good street motor.

easy-peasy.the 120y was available with l series motors in japan,& probably new zealand.the conversion would be easier if the car as an auto,as they have a larger tunnel, but it'll fit into the manual tunnel with a little friendly tapping from a ball pein hammer.then you can line bore the block to take a z22-24 crank, overbore it to about 89-90 mm i think,& have a 2.3-2.4 litre motor, with a 1.8 litre engine number.good for being stopped by the fun police,'it's only 1800cc,orificer'.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.
