My dad just rebuilt an A14 w/stock cam, pistons, etc. for my sister's car. However, he shaved/milled the head something like .120" (hundred and twenty thousandths)!! With a stock A12 Hitachi carb, stock exh. manifold and 2" exhaust this thing sounds really lumpy! I've never driven it, but he claims it makes as much power as his other A14 with bigger cam, stock compression, dual SU's and header. I'll have to give it a spin when I go up there in a few weeks. If compression is really worth that much in the A series I'll be mad that I've been running less than stock for so long (8.5:1), but even so low 16 sec quarter mile is impressive for stock bottom end/compression!

My A15 is getting about 115 hp at the flywheel and 86 hp at the wheels. .229 duration cam .414 lift, twin 40 Dellortos, home ported/polished head, oversize Si valves, lightweight chrome-moly pushrods, NISMO comp. headers, electronic distributor w/MSD 6AL, 7lb aluminum flywheel and NISMO clutch, stock bottom end and compression. Could be a little more if I could tune the carbs, WILL be more when I swap in the EFI, intercooler, and turbo.

I spoke with my datsun sense and he said an a-12 is capible of 130hp at the flywheel but he asked why bother you can easily get the power out of an a-15 and have a more reliable engine to boot. to quote him "the candle that glows twice as bright lasts half as long"

thank you sense
