What's the idea of making customers "sign in"? I've never encountered this.

Wreckers are charging a cover charge at the door before they will let you in now?
Soon there will be dress codes and bouncers with ear pieces.
"Sorry pal, not in those shoes...."
"Nah mate, Not in jeans..."

My plug for the Wreckers is Pacific Highway Auto Dismantalers at Yatala South Brisbane, it clean , tidy , the staff are polite and helpful, parts are very resonably priced, all car types are together by make and they will show you the vehicle the parts came from if it is still there as everything is cross referenced, they have even gone out to get parts for me in the rain, and will fit the parts for a good price.Yes this place is almost perfect except they don't have any 1200's guess I don't get every thing my way, but I still shop there.
If you have later model vehicles this place is worth a look.

Most of the wrecking yards in Seattle let you go in the yard and remove your own, but some don't. Like Angelo, I avoid the latter. In any case, I always think "buyer beware" and figure my prices before hand. I won't buy anything if I don't like it or haven't inspected it personally.

There are also a few "u-pick-and-carry" places here and there (not too common, but some in the US), you know $75 for all you can carry etc.

more and more wreckers are not letting you walk around these days. With people sueing for falling over and stupid things like that as well as theft...
But I love walking around and checking things out. Spotting bits in good condition or interesting bits and things that the old owners have done to their cars that you mightn't have thought of.
I'm getting teary now....

Oh yeah and because most of them wont let walk around and get bits. This makes the bits more expensive cos they have to do more work...
