i called up a few engineers one was no help at all i think his name was worner located in bankstown airport said he would call back but never did, so i called another guy by the name of john very nice person was alot of help but said i can only go SR20 non turbo but i can go for the CA18 turbo

I think that utes are an exception to that rule...
Check with an engineer.
They are in the yellow pages.

1816cc turbo in a 1200, is as large as can be legally registered in NSW. or 2.3L non-turbo.

Move to Melbourne if you want a SR20DET in a 1200.

We don't use CA18DET's because they are the best.. we here in NSW use them because they are the most powerful, readily available, and registerable import engine made by Nissan. They aren't a bad engine though. Some would debate that they are better than SR20's. They were apparently more expensive to make than SR's.

does anyone know if and where i could engineer a 1200 ute with a SR20 turbo i know i can get it done with a CA18 turbo and a SR20 i am in sydney.
