Ade, i can see how you are upset with people that F#%k you round..... but it does work both ways.

i have found, esspeacailly since owning my car that getting good help in the aumotviate service's industry is really hard. like ringing places up that just treat you like S#$t and just dont want your business at all becasue they can afford no too...
with supercheap and autobarn i have found pretty good service becasue the have alot competion, but when getting into the speacilised area's of the automotive industry it is so hard because they can brush your business off and take the highest spender.

i am not saying that is true for all the automotive industry, but it happens, well i have experienced it and i think other people in this club proably have too. there are places and people that have helped me extensivelly and gone out there way for me as the customer, which is great and i appreciate very much

customer service is a huge part of the automotive industry, i understand that, and its just i have found more places that are unwilling than i have willing (mostly in the speacilised area).

thats not taking any blame away from customers though because i am very confident in saying that there are shocking customers that expect you to whip up the info in the click of a finger with no background info, there are pletny of customers that can be wankers. but i try to get all the info i can on i want before i ring up for a part or service

this is what i have experinced where i live anyway, and a few places elsewhere.

well thats my thoughts anyway on the subject

i explained everytihng to him about the ports and about the Gx series..... plus treat him like a prick ??? i didnt treat him like a prick, mate all i was saying was he just denied that a GX motors and car exsisted, its not like i argued with him about it, i just said that i was with 1200.com and i knew that there were GX products produced. the guy just seemed to have a problem with me attempting to explain about some datsun knowlegde that i had gained from this site... i didnt come in with the wrong attitude he presumed that he knew everything and that i was trying to have a go at him, he also had a very basic knowledge of 1200's.
i think he had a poor attitude and poor customer service skills, and the wrong attitude ta boot.
all i was trying to relay to the site was that i was supriesd that a NISSAN dealership would not know much about DATSUNs and not have much info on datsun related products. i mean they have only been nissan for what twenty or twenty three odd years now? (dont qoute me on that)

p.s what i wrote about aftermarket stuff i made a mistake i meant genuine part thourgh nissan.

What the hell, this is an actuall conversation I had with a lady customer- and I will keep it shorter than it was.
she said I need a mirror for my accord.
I asked what year is it ?
a few years old
madam they came out in 1977
it's not that old
do have a chassis number
no
could you get it
hang on
she got the number it was a 99 model
now what mirror do you need
the rear view mirror
lady you have three on your car
I want the RH one
is it a manual NO
so it would be electric
YES
is it painted
YES
what colour is it
IT is the same colour as the car
yes ma'am and what colour is your car
and in a hump she told me the colour of her car in a tone as if I should have known
believe me guys try answering 40 or so of these a day and you all wonder why us parts dude's get a bit snappy !!

I don't mean to sound like smartass but why did you go to a Nissan dealer to get aftermarket parts (aftermarket= non genuine) obviously the parts dude had a bit of knowledge on the GX, did you explain about the difference in the ports ??
If I have a customer who treats me like a prick he gets the same right back.

That isn't a stupid question. At least that gets them into the ballpark, or whatever sporting arena is relevant in your country. What chaps my ass is when I tell them exactly what I want and they still feel the need to know what car it is going in.
I've sat here for ten minutes trying to think of an example. It'll come to me right after I log off the computer.

Mate, I had the same problem on Friday. Went to Hobart Nissan dealer. I was after at least four maybe five GX inlet/exhaust manifold gaskets. Why? Well a mate wants a couple and I need a couple for the rally car. So anyway, I was waiting for some bloody service. This bloke says "can I help you?" I reply with "yeah, Im after a inlet/extractor gasket for a Datsun A12 GX motor". This bloke is stunned. I said "the same one came out on a A15 with the oval port head". This bloke still has no idea. "What is the motor in?" "Umm...(thats not relevant but I knew what he meant) a Datsun Sunny" He goes on to say that they never came out with "extractors (as I put it)". Now I work at Super Cheap Auto and the number of people that ask for EXTRACTOR GASKETS for thier Holden 202 is rediculous! Do you think I know what they are talking about? Ofcourse! If your extractors are different to the normal exhaust at the manifold then just modify the gasket. He finally finds it and say he has none in stock and it would cost $36 each to order in.

I just went "yeah right, leave it with me". Why didnt I just order them through my work in the first place? Simply because we dont keep em in stock and I wanted it that day. So now I will order some in through my work which will be a hell of a lot cheaper, hence the name Super Cheap.

It just crapped me how he was such a rude, furken arrogant prick! And working in a very similar job it got me fumeing.

Now sometimes we have to ask what appear to be stupid questions like " What is the motor out of?" Where some people have chucked a 5 litre Chev V8 into their tractor and havent a furken clue! It is only for the sake of trying to look it up in a bloody catalouge to get a part number, stop getting ####ty, because I dont ask the question like your a dick, so dont say "It doesnt matter what its out of, just get me the part!"

There is also a lot we can do for people that obviously no one else bothers to do. I had a bloke that wanted the filter and chrome housing for his Weber, and it had no ID plates on it. So what do I do? Tell him that "nah, sorry cant do it?" No, I pulled of his base plate of the housing (the rest had fallen off onto the road), traced it, faxed it to our supplier and, weh hey, they sent us the right one.

Sorry for having a whinge, but I will never go back to that Nissan dealer because that bloke just shat me off. This was an eye opener, and you wont catch me talking like this dickhead.

Hi Guys a tip from an old parts guy.
chase around until you find a bloke in either a dealership or an aftermarket supplier who knows what you are talking about and the best thing if you are going genuine do your homework and give him the part number- you may know your model better than he does but he knows alot more than you do on all the models!!
cheers Ade

I was after a gx gasket for a long time and couldn't get one. The a14/15 one bolts on but yhe ports are bigger on the gx and you carn,t cut them out. I had to save my old one and put heaps of silicone on it. Not ideal but it works.
