I had thought about the jerry can that was my next step. Drain it..... last resort.
I will drive a little longer on empty at least I know how much fuel it will take.

Sedans, Coupes have 40L tank

Wagon, Van are 38L

Not sure about the Utes.

I too used to believe that they were only 30 litre.

But my parts manual says otherwise.

Speaking from experience,they will run on empty for awhile (not as long as i had hoped)
From stone dry it was just over 30 litres,dont remember exact figure, but nowhere 40

or carry a jerry can and wait...

Why not drain it and fill it - that would answer your question.

the utes never got over a 40litre tank....my manual says my ute has a 37litre tank (my ute is 1980 model), i have filled my ute up to 37litres before


p.s took me a while to work out my fuel guage when i got my ute because the guage can go past the empty line, but still have a bit of fuel left

I'm in the states and I have had a 1600 with a 9 gallon tank so anything is possible

I seem to only get thirty litres of fuel in my 80 model ute the gauge has been tested and seems to be ok. How much fuel should it hold when the gauge reads empty. I thought all 1200's had 45 litre tanks or for our US mates 10 gallons someone set me straight please
