Good Question, i am about to start to play with a CA18 in a 1200 Coupe and was wondering as to how much the standard clutch and gearbox would handle. I was speaking to a guy just yesterday that was telling me that he ripped 4 standard clutches apart in a matter of months he know has just got a guy near Penrith who apparently modifies a clutch from a Aussie 4 speed (1 Tonne Clutch) and he recons that it will ahndle anything that he can throw at it. I would love to hear anything further about your finding Dude........

It should hold any power you can give it, the average CA18DET put into a 1200 can produce up to 220hp@rw, the standard clutch should be able to hold this unless you go nuts with mods then I would look to go an aftermarket clutch.

Aparently Centerforce (i think they are called) are good, the put small weights on the end of the clutch plate which gives it better grip on the pressure plate

Does anyone have any idea how much power the standard ca18 clutch can hold?

And how much can the box take before it goes bang?
