There are some tips on checking air leaks in the Tech Section article Carb adjustment, troubleshooting, rebuild and inspection

yeah i had same problem with my hitachi, turned out there was a hairline crack init somewhere and it was rooted someone had droped it before i got it, easy answer for me was get the 32/36 no problems after that

airleak is the problem but from were i dont know.any ways to check for a leak.

Good call, Lobster.

5&Dime, sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere, maybe a hose end, hose not connected, broken vacuum diaphragm or leaking intake gasket.

the hand on the carb worked.it doesnt want to stall now when i hit the pedal.now if i put in park or nutrual it goes to a high idle.if i set the idle down it wants to quit or it stalls when i put it in gear.it is driving me nuts.

Carburetor Accelerator pump jets are either too large, or blocked. This is almost certain if it happens when you take off, but is fine at idle, and at speed.

just instaled a l20b adjusted the timing,new spark plugs the works.but im having a problem with it wanting to stall when i go to take off or when i hit the pedal to quick.please someone help.
