There WERE earlier Datsuns with 3 bearing cranks, lots of them, but you specified the "A" series & these were first used in the B10 [Datsun 1000] cars that were first sold here in '67 i believe. It might have been 1966 in Japan, but it was the same engine, & that's when this engine was first used as far as i can tell.

thanks for your thoghts chris i rekon there would have to be earlier a series datsuns that used the three bearing crank (pre 1966) possibly for japan only?

The A10 engine was the only "A" series Datsun that used the 3 bearing crank in Australia. I suspect it was the only one anywhere, but i dont know what the rest of the world got, so i would not bet my left one on it. I have never heard of a 3 bearing crank in anything else.

hi, i was just wondering if anyone knew if the datsun 1000 (b,vb,kb10) were the only dattos fitted with the three bearing a-series?
