Although the original question has already been answered just for the sake of visual aid here's 13X7 fron and 13X8 rear wheels and as stated no, they don't fit inside the arches:

These wheels, by the way, have an offset that puts them the closest possible distance from the front strut that I would consider safe.

I learnt the importance of offset after doing the stanza brake upgrade on the front of my car. I befriended a guy at a tire shop who let me take 1 wheel of each set that would fit. after 9 different sets i couldnt find the right ones, then one day at pic-a-part i found a set and had a gut feeling they would fit and took the risk (no refunds) and they fit. by that time it had taken me 2 months to find the right wheels.

You are absolutely right, & i want to emphasise that it is critical to get the right offset, to ensure correct clearances. It is possible that the best fit is achieved with diferent wheels front & rear.

My personal preference, if available, is 5" or 5-1/2" wide for front, & 5-1/2" or 6" for rear. Naturally the tyre sizes will be diferent & i have followed this policy since my 1917 Dodge got mags back in '73.

you wont have to do a thing as long as you dont go bigger than 13x6 and you get the right off set.

how wide could 13 inch wheels go on a stock B10 (1000) without looking like a ugly torana with flares. Do i have to change much to fit 13s on?? . I will have to put 13s as 12" are too hard to find tyres for. Even though the hubcaps are rare and look alright. Thanks

Chris,
Yes you are quite right ( it had been a long day...)I use 13x6'' and 175/60/13.
They really are'nt that skinny- if you look at the car they still look prity big and remember I'm talking 'r' compound racing rubber here.
Also to consider is the change to the overall gearing if you go up in tyre size- my engine is built for a rev range of 3-7500 and I use a standard 3.9/1 diff which it pulls nicely but I don't want to go any taller in ratios so this is the size to use.

I hope that you made a simple typo there as you write that you use 13" [diameter] by 6" rims & 175 x 60 x 15" [diameter] tyres. You have quoted either a wrong rim or tyre diameter or,....you run some real loose tyres on those rims.

Why such a skinny size?

Carl,
I run a sedan all set up for circuit racing and can assure you that there is no way if the car is lowered down that you'll get them under the guards- especially the rear without some fairly drastic guard pumping.
Quite honestly I believe that the best tyre/wheel combo is 13 x6 and 175/60/15
I use a Bridgestone Potenza RE520S and they are awesume. Also available in that size are the Kuhmo R and Dunlop Formula R.
