Yes mate, it's finished and in the car. I havent been able to test it because I have been flat out with ARC stuff plus got ripped off by a company here in Canberra because I asked them to straighten and ballance my ultra light tailshaft and they sent it back to me worse than when they got it. I can tell you that I was not happy - every time I give part of my coupe to someone else to fix they end up F*#kin it.
I have been searching the forums high and low to find a cheap replacement out of a ute and finally I have. Only delay is that its in Sydney so hopefully a mate will pick it up for me this weekend. Tailshaft should be back in the car sometime next week and will start testing sometime after that.
The springs that I showed in the photo album of the PG I made have been upgraded to stronger springs because I found there didnt seem to be enough preload with the others.
As far as the operation of the PG goes - all the springs do is ensure that the plates are in contact with the diff gears, its the action of the diff drive pin on the inside slope of the plates that locks and unlocks the PG.
Something else of interest - there has been talk of the possibility of fitting a Subaru LSD to H165. I posted photo's of the physical differences in the photo album a few months ago. Well I have my hands on a smaller Subaru LSD, it's viscous and not multi plate but it is smaller so I will also be checking that option out when I have the time. There are not enough hours in the days at present

yes most rally guys with CIG i would say actually slow themselves, as they are quite messy and usually slower through corners with mass amounts of oversteer, quite impressive but slow

oh, and, have u ever tried to fing the right hi-lux diff for the conversion, good bloody luck mate, word is the lsd units for em are wearing thin too

Kegs,
Yes thats exactly what a CIG Locker is, an open centre welded up so both wheels always do the driving. Lots of rally guys do this because it's the easiest way to get traction in the dirt. Can do some nasty things to the cars handling, usually understeer into corners and oversteer out. A change of driving style is need to get the best out of them in the forrest.

You are probably right that it is more your driving ability than anything the diff can do for you.
See the wheel marks coming out of tight corners power on and there is ususally only one wheel spinning from what I have seen of them?
