I think carbon fiber is the best thing since sliced bread, but like muke's comment hints, a carbon fiber hood still has the rice stigma attached to it.

BTW, this has gotta be the least attractive front end I've seen in awhile.

I wouldn't consider it riceifying a 1200 by adding a carbon fiber hood. Carbon fiber is awesome, it's lighter than fiberglass and stronger than steel. They're making all the high dollar sports cars nowadays with carbon fiber where it counts. It's just great to see something other than fiberglass available brand new to put on our 1200's. FRP/fiberglass has to be painted just like the rest of the car, so you spend money on that and then it flexes over the years the paint cracks nasty looking. Also, think about the stregth for safety, replacing a steel hood that was designed a certain way to provide protection in front end accidents with a fiberglass one doesn't exactly make the car more durable in a front end accident. It's a shame that all the fart piped ricers have given carbon fiber a bad image, it's greaty stuff! I like the way carbon fiber looks, and on ricers it's not just the hood that makes it a ricer, but everything else too such as obnoxious stickers/paintjobs, fake go-fast parts, hideous spoilers, in other words the appearance of a fast car and the attitude of the driver (thinks he's fast). I'd rather have a brand new stock steel GX hood, but will settle for a carbon fiber one since thats not available and I'll save weight and keep the crash integrity of the front end in the process!
