I should have qualified that they only make bike carbs these days. They are as good as weber's in my experience. It all depends on what you have spares for.

The people on E-Bay selling the carbs said that Weber (Italy) carb production stopped in the early 1990's, THe DCOE wasn't made by Weber(Italy) after the mid 1980's and that Weber(Italy) made the DCOM as a replacement for the DCOE. The DCOM was produced until Weber ceased production of Carbs.

But Weber DCOEs continue to be produced in Spain and only is sold in the USA. The e-Bay seller (located in Italy) said the Spanish DCOEs are not sold in Europe since they didn't meet the higher standards of Europe that the Italian Webers met.

Dellurto also ceased production in the 1990s when FI became the norm and put carbs out of business.

From what I can see parts are available for both Webers and Dellurtos.

At these prices I'm tempted to go with the Webers, even though I have a nice pair of Classic H4 SUs.

the webers are still made, dels are not

but parts interchange, only real diffrence is one has plastic fuel float the other brass (dont remember which though)

so go the delortoe, webers are preffered generally but its 100% wank only

SU's are good, but they never had the top end that my webers (twin 42's) did

dont get 42's (long story) go the 40's as the choke range is more suited to our smaller motors

I do not know much about the webers and what weber you are talking about.
What I do know is that Dellortos are not made anymore.
You are going to start to struggle to find parts and rebuild kits for them.
Rather go Webers.
Find out more about these webers they are talking about.
Unfortunately I do not know them very well yet to help you.

I just saw Weber 40 DCOM on e-bay for
US$ 179 a pair and Dellorto 40 DHLA for
US$ 129 a pair and US$ 65 for one.

On a A12 what is your opinion of
1) twin 1 1/2 SUs
2) Twin Weber 40 DCOMs
3) Twin Dellorto 40 DHLAs, or
4) a single Weber DCOM or Dellorto DHLA

I'm not sure if the DCOM is an equal or close to a DCOE, but at these prices ? what about the Dellortos?

Help
