hey 2332, my bro would be very interested in talking to you as he has the 33 or 35" inch tyres and 5.3 diff ratio too, ill post a pic of his beast soon, but he was saying he could only use the lock rite with a certain type of hub (cant remember what its called) but you have to engage it by hand for 4wd, im sure you know what i mean, his concern with that is that his car has some real flash wheels with centre caps and he wont be able to use these if he converts his hubs

anyway he will have a more accurate question for you but that is his dilema, expect an email from him ok

cheers mate

how about a hilux diff if so how hard are they to engineer and do they cost alot thanks all so i will be running a ca in the datto

hilux's are second 2 a 9'' in strength.. nearly same axels as a 9'' fitting isnt that hard cut down and new brackets made and fited with 4 stud is about 1300$.. ive decided 2 go for a mini spool set up on my hilux diff.. as same as mate bella.. Lsd's are alvailable but are hard 2 get hands on.. as for tramp kits.. DONT BOTHER they sit 2 low to the ground and look like SHlT u are better of getting your leaves reset lower like i have (flat) and leaving the bottom plate in.. only 2 diffs i would look at for 1200 ute ca18det conversion is hilux and R31

thought that was funny, gofast bits being available for an escort!!!, dream on, they have been so poular to race for sooo long that the good bits are either long gone or bloody expensive

Que? You can buy a wide range of new escort stuff from a variety of manufacturers... Look around and see how many places you can buy a new Datto LSD or SCCR gearbox by way of comparison!....

There's dealers who do nothing but second hand escort competition parts, the stuff is everywhere! You must have internet access, do you know about search engines????

I imported a 5 speed C/R gearkit for a Sierra box from england a few years ago now, cost me $1200. Compare this to the $4700 i spent on the NISMO box in the 240....

Lock rites are great. I've got 2 in my wife's Surf with 5.29:1 gears and 35" tires and haven't broken anything yet and haven't got stuck yet. They're a bear to drive with the big tires on the street but as soon as I put the stock tires on for inspection all the worries go away so I'd think they'd be great in a light car with small tires.

I don't think they make them for datsun diffs but would buy one in an instant if they were available. Maybe we can all get together and email the company. Show enough interest and who knows?

id say not

but my bro has been lookin into "lock-rite" lockers and stuff and it would seem they are better than lsd especially for the price ($600 i think)

but thats just going by what he says i havent looked into it fully or got a proper description but he reckons its a better thing than an lsd, he is getting one for his surf this x-mas and he says hes gonna put one in his rally car too, see how it goes first, its not a constant lock hing it aloows one wheel to spin faster round corners ect ect

The other option here is the good ole ford escort diff. They line up on the spring hangers beaut, and are roughly equivalent to an H165. gofast parts for them turn up all the time, so you'll find a cheap slippery no problem.

thought that was funny, gofast bits being available for an escort!!!, dream on, they have been so poular to race for sooo long that the good bits are either long gone or bloody expensive

otherwise you prob make some good points, not that i agree but im running a h190 so im biased
