Here in the states the Xterra and another Nissan truck uses the VG33ER (R=supercharged). Roots type.

3.3 liter V6 and a supercharger -- future powerplant for my 1200

Especially when Nisssan has already done all the fabrication you need for 1 supercharger...

I don't believe you will fit twin superchargers and a VG30, in any of the smaller Datsun from the 70s.

Twin superchargers is silly. It provides no tangilble benefit over a larger single supercharger. You just end up with more frictional losses and a longer belt to drive them. Superchargers aren't like turbos, where rotational inertia is a big issue.

There are reasons why twin superchargers is not common
1. Long drive belt/multiple drive belts, complex tensioners.
2. Frictional power losses from driving 2 superchargers
3. Nightmare to make a manifold.
4. Underbonnet space
5. Parts Expense
6. Maintenance costs
7. Servicing of injectors depending on manifold design

I think it would look cool, but it's a hell of a lot of work, and you wouldn't enjoy the finished product.

If you want to stand out..paint your car flourescent Yellow, and put a big stereo in the car. Having a standout engine will cost you plenty in the long run.

Chris

does anyone know of any other datto's around 1960 - 1974 that would be an easy fit for the vg30 as i want to put twin toyota superchargers on it as it doesn't have to be a fast car just one that stands out from the croud

Eddies ute is local to me. I know the original owner that did all the work but he unfortunatly sold it a few years ago to go live in Europe. He's back now and has moved on to other projects.
I helped with the brake setup on it. Unfortunatly he never finished updating the website and now has lost abit of interest since its not his anymore.
Originally it was built and registered with a VG20 but that soon changed as soon as the rego plates got bolted on.

This is the swap I'm going with. A VG33ER would do nicely in the little 1200
