A 240Z with low-to-no-rust is worth a small fortune. They are quite rare and ours rusted away very quickly. The 280Zs aren't nearly as prone to rust. 240Zs are usually worth at least twice the price of a 280Z (comparing stock240Z to stock280Z).

As far as parts availability, yes just about anything you could ever need is still available. And having imported hundreds of thousands of 280Zs means there are still lots of good bargains to be had at the junkyard.

That's an awesome looking Zed!

As Datman55 wrote in his post, these cars are genericly known here as Z cars. Thats Zed cars, not Zee cars.

It looks to be a good base for a nice road hack, just fit a towbar & it could haul the 1200 when needed. Like datman55, i too look foward to the progress reports.

Even at US$2500 it would be cheap here. Mine as a high mileage, but pretty good condition, and I'd hope it's worth more than that. I paid more than that for it and I've put a fair amount of work into it since then!
So what's a good 240Z worth?
I've tentatively lined up a job in California for a couple of months later in the year- if I get there I'll be doing a bit of Z parts shopping, the availability of stuff over there blows me away, here it's rare and unbelievably expensive. Even the Z specialist here in NZ quotes higher prices than I can walk into the Nissan dealer and get things for.
I'll be coming back from the states with full suitcases!

You picked that car up for $1000??? You guys in the states don't know how lucky you are when it comes to Zeds. Thats about $1500NZ, you'd have no show buying a Zed in even half decent condition for that money.

Nah, I stole it at that price. In my area, this car would typically fetch upwards of $2000 ($2500 for the right buyer). They aren't really cheaper than 1200's here, just more common. They sold TONS of 280Zs here, so they are very common and easy to find. Usually $800-1000 will get you a decent conditon, high-mileage car. A good condition, low-mileage car (less than 100K miles) with bring $2000 if the paint is decent. Add in factory air conditioning (in Texas) and the price goes up alot more.

Tim congrats on your class win, it looks like a good event!
And what a nice 260Z, I have to see it run!
A 240RS beating an EVO6.5 and a 260Z beating a Porsche 911... exactly what I like to see!

Hey cool! I've got the same car here in NZ. A 75 model imported to NZ in 76 I think. Still LHD. Got the parts to convert it but doubt I'll ever get around to it.
I'm actually painting it well at least painting the front and touching up the back this saturday. I'll take the camera to the paint shop and post some photos.
