Quote: I painted and reinstalled the "swooshes" that go under the windows. Since you are now in the 610 fold, you should know the official name is the "J-line." Some of use yoke around and call them the J-Lino's.

Tensandtwenties helped me install a pair of 510 bumpers on the 610 last night. They look good, not great but they'll grow on me. You know that saying, "measure twice, cut once"? Well, apparently I don't. The Dimlight Racing version of it is, "eyeball it once, cut too much, cuss alot." I trimmed too much from the rear bumper ends and it has a gap that is going to bug me for quite a while. I haven't figured out my BS story yet that will make it seem like I meant for it to be that way. But all in all, I like the effect and think they will really look tough when they are powder coated black! As an aside, both of us forgot our cameras last night and that is why there aren't pictures.

No, I just think black like Max's Interceptor would be cooler.

I really dig this car! I did a few things to it this weekend. I painted and reinstalled the "swooshes" that go under the windows. Black, of course. I also painted the grille black, but taped off the stainless surrounds around the headlights. I installed a Grant "flat bottom" steering wheel and the shift knob from my Subaru after bending the lever back to a more comfortable position. Installed rear disc brakes. Well, ok, I painted the drums silver so they look like discs to the casual observer. I started working on the 510 bumpers for it. They still need some trimming though. I ordered a set of 225/60-14 tires to go on the black 14x7 steel wheels I have. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you want to look at it, they stick out too far. I just this morning ordered a set of Z-car flares for it. I want this car to say "get the hell out of my way, I'm pissed off!" Once I get all of tha done, and stop the oil hemorrhage, I'll start thinking about paint. I'm thinking yellow, blue and red like the Main Force Patrol cars at the beginning of "Mad Max." Tensandtwenties hates that idea!

Yeah, I love the sound and the wind in my, well, scalp. But the thing is, and here is where it sounds like my estrogen level is too high, it has too much power. Not for me of course, but for itself. That is the most evil "handling" car I have ever wrestled. I can't even bring myself to say I drive it, it is more like wrestling. But to make a short story long, I'm ready to admit defeat and sell it to play with the old Dattos again. As T&T pointed out, the "top secret" car trade involved my 510 for his 610. We were both lamenting how we liked our cars but not their looks. Suddenly, we realized I liked the 610's look and he liked the 510's. So we swapped. Of course, now my mom doesn't have a Datsun to call her own, but she really didn't need to be hooning around in a thirty year old car anyway.

BTW, this is dimlight65's "new" car... And my "new" car... Keen-eyed observers will notice that the ownership of these two cars was previously reversed.
