find urself a A15 head give it a port n polish... get a bigger cam.. twin SU's or if budget permits grab a set of twin dcoe webbers.. and lighten the fly whell..

A 14 it is ! So what should i then do to the a 14 ive got a 5 speed box and i have budget to build a nice motor

If you want a strong revvy motor, build up the A15. I guess his budget only allows one or the other (stock A15 or built A14).

I'm with Teretonga on this one.

If you want heaps of torque get the 15 but if you want a strong revvy motor the 14 is the way to go.
I'm sure rpms is the preferred option here or most of us would be at chevv8.com

No, a standard 1200 gearbox is not strong enough. Think about it, Datsun used a heaver box behind A14s, let alone A15s. Plus I tried it ... easy driving and the box still broke.

will a standard a12 or 1200 4 speed gear box be ok through a mild a15.... i thought it would be providing you dont drop burnouts all the time... what do i care ive got 6 of them any way.

Definitely build the A14. You can get that forged crank spinning better than the A15 cast crank with some simple head work and a freshen up. The import A15's are most likely to be ute/van motors with a cam profile to suit. Actually it depends if you like revs or not I guess! At least if you re-build the A14 you know that what you have is fresh and done right whereas there is always a question mark with used import motors.

i got my A15. i was faced with the option of gettin the 1200 rebuild cause it has 375000 on it, but instead i picked up a a15 with weber, 3700 cam and extractors for 500 bucks. From what i have heard i would go with the a15!!!!!
