Sounds like the backspace dimension was 105 mm.

Offset is the relationship between the mounting flange and the wheel centerline. It has nothing to do with the width or inside edge of the wheel.

For a 1200, the offset is rather meaningless. What you need to know is the backspacing -- this governs whether it will hit the strut, and the total wheel width, to make sure it won't hit the fender.

I recently fitted mags to my 1978 120Y and rim choice was affected by offset. Most rims I tried had an offset of 105mm (105mm between the INSIDE edge of the rim and the back of the rim 'face'. Hopefully you know what I mean. This was too much and I had problems clearing the strut. However, a rim offset of 90mm went in perfectly. No spacers or any modifications at all. Also, you may need to ensure the diameter of the centre hole is not less than 80mm. That's just what I encountered. Maybe the 1200 is radically different, but I guess you can never have too much info... Good Luck !!

Ok, I have drum brakes on the front of mine so I'll tell you the offset that will go on no problem ,The inside offset of 120mm will fit without hitting on the struts,I have wheels that are 122mm so I'm running 3mm spacers on the front ,the rear fit without a problem ,My rims are 15 x 6 and with the front outside 33mm they fit inside the guards with about 40mm before the guard lip (BUT ME CAR ISN'T LOWERED IT SITS ABOUT AN INCH ABOVE THE TYRES AND THE GUARD ISN'T ROLLED) I have 195-50-15 tyres on the front and 205-50-15 on the rear .Hope this helps.

the scenario is there are a pair of RWD skyline mags for sale, and Im not worried anput them being too wide, I think they might not have enough offset and rub on the strut etc.

What width wheel? That changes the offset.

We know that 7inch wheels JUST fit after lipping the guards, and that 5.5 - 6.5 inch wheels are about right.

Most Datto people replace the lower arms and/or struts to upgrade the brakes. This makes your question a little more difficult to answer.

I am almost certain that all RWD cars don't have the same offset. Try fitting S14/S15 wheels on a Datto, and you see that they rub on the strut.

You'll need to sit down and measure your particular situation.

Talking to a wheel and tire place is your best bet.
