how lazy can we be with the mounts? I'm trying to visualize a way to mount that engine securely. You could make a cradle that hooked to the crank and tranny sides of the engine ( now front and rear ) which would idealy hook right to the old engine mounts. how was it done before? any pics?

the e15t sounds like a sweet swap, it's light and will make some power.

what kind of 1/4 mile times are ca18det datsuns getting?

Engine mounts have to be made up. The E15 sits in a FWD cradle, rubber mounted at each end and side of the engine.

I reckon if they can be made to do mid 11's in FWD form, a 10 would be acheivable in RWD?????

I think I have a new project brewing.......mmmmmmm Datsun 1200 Coupe with E15ET with a 63A Box mmm
Do the engine mounts have to custom or is it the same as the A15 setup???

By the way the SR20DEt in my Sunny is really good pulled the gearbox out and have a HKS twin plate in it already, was wondering why it was so heavy on the pedal. The workshop who did the MOD plates I took it to complained of it being heavy...lol

Just a little update on the Murphy racing developments E15T!
Ben Murphy came up to my house last night and told me they have now run an 11 .52 at 132?? mph (previous 127 mph). This was done at heathcote the weekend before last and they are now aiming to hit high 10's!!!!!
This makes them the 9th fastest FWD in OZ !!!!!!!

This is a great engine to follow on from the A series. Why arent they a popular transplant into 1200's???

Neil Kersten of Intune Automotive in Alice Springs saw the light years ago with his 1200 ute and creamed the desert racer series with E15T power. It had a modded T25 Garret, Hi flow head, was EFI with celica 5 spd. It ran a Nismo H165 LSD and was unbeatable in its class!

Surely some one can do an E15T/clica 5 spd streeter???

yeah dyno time is the killer in most budgets. $120+ and hour adds up really quick!

For my bluebird FJ20T I just plugged in the M4 pro with advanced tuning and got it to idle by cranking and richening the mixture till it fired and ran evenly.

I then pulled the map up at the next 500 rpm level, to the point where it ran evenly at all throttle openings and took it up in steps from there.

Once it was up to driveable rpm, On the road we just drove it and tuned as it was driven till the flat spots were gone and the mixtures seemed reasonable. That saved a lot of dyno time and money.

I'm looking at the motec ecu now. I really want to get the e15t working. The thing i was concearned about was that with a stand alone i might not be able to get the engine to run at all without alot of tuning.

Modifying the ga16 harness and whatnot is kind of messy.

all those stand alone's are so expensive...

The Delco stuff is good but it doesnt allow as much tuning versatility as a motech M$ even.
Have a look at a Motec or Autronic demo program. When you go into the pages there are so many variables you can adjust way more so than the delco stuff i have seen even the latest gen 3, 250 Kw clubsport engine computers.

I like Delco's as well as they offer great value bang for buck. I have seen a local ducati 900 running on a Delco, but they still dont have the adjustability of the big brand stuff.
