I have always used pitch (like Black Jack) but preferably isotrol based to aid in rust inhibiting. if you pait the entire floor pretty thick and the inside of the fire wall, it should help heaps, As it has a very large surface area, (dips and hollows) as the only way to diminish noise is to give the sound off through the larges surface area, also putting a layer of felt down under the carpet will help aswell.

Hey Guys,
Due to driving my Datsun to work lately a have become aware just how noisy it can be inside the cabin.
Has anyone come up with a good accoustic solution.????
I was thinkin sumthing like a rubber matting or something.
It is mainly engine noise.. Any recommendations??
