hey, quit messing with your camber and caster. Take your car to a quality alignment shop and let them tweak your suspension back in place. All you can do is complicate your suspension. A shop will get it right and it will stay right until you hit something again. It will be cheaper than sone kind of aftermarket add on that can come out of adjustment. My brither-in-law hit a ditch on my right front and pushed the wheel back about an nch. I tried to do the add on adjustment thing but it was never right until I took it to a shop. They have the right equiptment and knowledge to do the job right. It cost $65 American.

my reply was so long i got cut off. Anyways were was I? Oh yes.. I turned my tie rods in a lathe, just behind the threaded part, back about a half inch. A little more on the bad side to compensate for (hide) the damage. I guess you could turn them back more and add or subtract washers to make them adjustable, but thats a pain in the butt. Good luck. My car has some damage, too (from the previous owner, of course). The front tie rod mount is bent back a little and that is the easiest to see. The tie rod was bent, too. It looked fine, until i compared it with the otherside. My crossmember and part of the body near the crossmeber mount are a little tweeked, too. This was very hard to notice. I compared both sides going back and forth and i noticed a small buckled spot on the body. I also used a tape measure to measure from some point on the rearend up to the crossmember and then compared the same points with the other side. Try measuring across you engine compartment and under the car at various points. Maybe your whole front end is tweeked. A tape measure is not exactly a precision instrument, but it will show if something is really wrong. I started by just measuring the front and rear wheel base on each side and found a difference of almost one inch!!! Anyways, as far as caster adjustment... I turned my tie rods in a lathe, just behind the threaded pa

hey, man you shouldnt try to fix a suspension problem like that if it has been damaged,( they should have know what was bent when they did the allignment!) with Macpherson struts nine times out of ten after a decent hit they bend, you would be better off fixing the problem rather than working around it. and if the damper insert hasnt been damaged then it would be cheaper to replace the strut than to stuff around with a possibly bent one, that is all easy work too, you could replace it in a couple of hours max. You could also make up your own camber/castor plate, but too much negative camber will screw your tyres, and it could handle worse if the rest of your suspension isnt set up sweet as well. well hope it goes all good for you and all that. chris.

As everyone should know the 1200 Coupe (or all models?) came out with non-adjustable camber and caster. Unfortunatly when I hit the bank in my little off a while back the steering is way out. I have just had a wheel balence and alignment and they said they set it up as best they could but it still pulls to the right (RHD car, hit the bank on right hand side). They said I must have bent some of the suspension or something. I have all new tie rod ball joints etc, so I know nothing is worn. GETTING TO THE POINT....I was reading in one of my HOT ROD magazines from the states about kits a guy made (we are talking in the 70's) for z's and 510's and 210's and other cars from the 70's with non-adjustable camber and caster that make them have adjustable caster and camber. It involves cutting a elongated hole in place of the old one in the control arm that is attached to the crossmember. It also involves putting in a threaded caster adjustment bar. I was wondering if anyone has one or knows where to get one. And ofcourse how much they are. My automotive teacher at college said Pedders Suspension should have a kit and last he could remember they would be about $300 including instalation and setup. Does anyone know of any other kits? My tyres are already starting to scrub out and my spec sheet from the wheel alignment place (bob jane t-mart) is off the show. Heaps of things are out like toe, camber & caster. It only had the pull after I hit the bank, and I cant see anyhting under the car thats bent out of shape (its been up on the hoist for inspection at college). If I installed a kit would it be possible to run a few degrees of negative camber and would this help the car handle or would I just stuff the front tyres too quickly. Sorry about the length, any help much appreciated. Simon
