if its at idle and clears up at higher rpm i wouldn't worry about it unless the reason u have the guage on is to find a problem.if u have a good guage it will pick up fluctuations in the vacuum with a lumpy rough idle.

I know that a nasty can grind will give low vacuum at idle, but can this also cause a flickering needle which only stabalises with rpm increase?
Or could something else be wromg?
