A couple of extra tips don't use any loctite on the heli coil itself only the stud when you fit it. And before you break off the drive tang test the stud in the thread, sometimes the helicoil will be too tight. It is easier to remove while the tang is still on it. Use some CRC or WD 40 on the tap in alloy as well.

OK Now that you know the correct drill size, you know what to do next.
The correct tap should be included in the kit as these are usually a special one for the kit. If necessary, buy or borrow a proper tool to hold the tap. It is a "T" handle thing with a four jaw chuck, or clamp that secures in the square drive at the end of the shaft.
Re thread the hole VERY carefully to ensure that it is straight.

Next, the coil goes over the instalation tool with the tang going into the hole first. As you carefully wind it in, you will see that the friction of the coil in the hole causes the coil to tighten up & it shrinks in diameter, which reduces the friction & allows it to be installed satisfactorily. Install the coil untill the last bit is just inside the hole.
Remove the install tool & the coil will resume it's full size. Next, get your long nose pliers, the little ones, & grab the tang near its end & break it off by pulling & pushing it along the axis of the hole. You may have noticed that there are a couple of marks where this tang joins the thread part. This is the designed-in weak point & it should break off easily at that point when pushed & pulled in the right direction.
Some simply insert a small screwdriver onto the tang & give it a smart smack with a hammer, but the tang is lost forever inside your engine that way if the hole is drilled through to the cooling system.

Welcome to the frustrating world of 'automotive' engineering.

you have to drill the hole out to the correct tapping drill size first (this wants to be pretty staight obviously), then tap the hole, then screw the insert in with the tool with the slot in the end then use the punch to break the tang off the insert.

o.k. so the head stripped where one of the mafiold studs goes in

i went and bought a re-coil kit, not much help theres no instructions

i have a pole with a weird end which is obviously for screwing the coil in

a pole with a plane cylinder end which i have no idea what thats for

and the tap/screw thingy

do i need to drill the hole to a specific size before i tap it, which im guessing i dont have the right drill bit for, or do i just go ahead and tap the hole thats already there?

theyve also pressumed i have something to turn the tap with which i dont really

yes im pissed at this kit right now if you couldnt tell

what is the proper procedure for using this kit????
