Regular service parts are easily available by order at most parts stores, performance parts you either adapt from other cars, make from scratch or order from australia.

Tom , in Vegas here. There are plenty of outlets for your 1200 and A series motors. Nissan Motorsports , whom you can order directly from , supports these cars still. I've raced my 1200 at SCCA events since 1989 , this year I'm switching to vintage and also going to do a Tarmac Rally with it.
For a street car the A14/15 is a good swap. You will get a 12 HP boost over the stock 1200.
I run the A12 due to rules , for your A12 there are a lot of small things you can do to bring the horsepower up.
The electronic ignition from a 210 will fit , a weber 32/36 down draft , header , A14 Valves , clean up the ports in the head and a mild street cam will get you to around 85HP (remember stock is 68). Throw on some sway bars , good shocks and better brake pads and you will have a fun little street car for an additional $900-$1000.
Once you go beyond mild to moderate tuning the maintenance intervals are very short...A12 race engines are about 140 HP but only go 6 hrs between rebuilds.
My racer started life as a $280 daily driver was up to $1800 at the first race weekend and now has about $5000 total invested , not bad for 16 years of fun eh??

Tom

PS I flog my car and generally show it no mercy , these things are tuff

If you add the name of the state where you live in your profile details it may well help. There are a small number of US members here on this site & you may easily find that one or more will contact you with assistance.

Gday mate, good to see another 'converted' in amoungst us peoples and historians

Yeah the A 14/15 great swap from the stock A 12 power gains are definatley noiticeable...
These engines just keeep on going which is good for mods if you are looking to do them!

A great site way i have found to find sites that would be situated in the US and other places is to hop on yahoo! (is crap i know but resorceful) and you can find allll kinds of Datsun groups, one (B310 aka sunny tho) group i am joined to MITE be of some reference for the engine bittys tho....
The site is http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/datsun210/

I found it useful for info on prices, specs & what no - you mite not, depends....

There are many Datto 1200 keepers and lovers on this so just ask and they'l notice you eventually!!!

Cheers
Dave

Welcome to the fold man, good to have another one in.

Geez well where do we start....
The A14/15 swap has been well documented over the last few years in this site so a couple searches never go astray, and the tech section has some really good swap articles. as for parts go i'm not sure what you can still get over there in the US as i'm in OZ. but there are a few guys asround the site who have lots of experience with their 1200's in the US. i'm sure they can help you with more direct answers regarding parts.

just remember dattos are very interchangable so if you can't find the part on one you can probably find it on another one!!

hope this helps man, keep on datting

I have always been a chevy and jeep lover, until I cam accross this cool looking 1972 Datsun 1200 A-12 4 speed manual. Guy wanted $250 for it. My first immature thought was to thrash it to pieces like normal import hating chevy enthusiasts would have done. Well, once I DROVE, and notice I said DROVE the 33 year old car home, I fell in love in about 2 stop lights and 25 stalls. So, basically I want to know some build up ideas. MPG's would be good. I would love to steroid the A-12 as much as I could, but if I could get a A-14/15 and some helpful know how then I'll take that route. Biggest question, is there still OEM or Aftermarket parts being made for this car (in U.S.). Any king of help would be greatly appreciated, sorry for the long post, but I would now do anything for my
Datto<<<<------see, I am even getting the lingo down
