they can be easily seen with the diff in, I fitted mine after i fitted the bigger ute diff.
As near as I can tell all they are a bump stop, in the unlikely case that the rear end bottoms out your diff wont smack the floor pan

can that part be seen easily without dropping the diff?

Is not having one or having a worn one what causes the rear axle clunk, or is that from the rear link bushings being bad?

Where do they come from? I see one in the FSM, but never seen a parts listing for one or anything.

I see solid billet ones for other datsuns.
