I was thinking my Datto might make a good chook shed, at least while it is parked for a few days..

with the speed sensor lock, the dog can still run off when you stop at the traffic lights. you may find it better to run the solenoid directly off the positive side of the coil. that way it will stay shut while the iginition is on run....

however i would suggest getting one of these rather than chopping up your datsun:

it also stops your car from stinking like a dog after a while

Seems like it would be easier to go through the side from the back seat. Much less hardware in the way. Course your dog may not like having to go in and out from the back seat...

I guess there might be the problem of the little plastic flap swinging wildly when you go down the freeway. Might not be too good in that infamous Pacific Northwest rain, either.

I though I'd use a door lock-speed sensor from a 1982 Cadillac. When you go about 10mph, it automatically locks the doors. Would have to use one solenoid to lock the doggy door, but that's OK cause I got a 2-dr.

Do you regard your car as a kennel?
That's where my dog lived at least.[in a kennel, not my car]

Has anyone fitted a doggy door to their 1200 so the dog come enter/exit as he pleases? Where is the best place to fit one, just right in the center of the passenger door? Or would it be better to put it in the rear.
