I'd also think there would have been alot of valve bounce. So you might want to check the pushrods and springs.

Hmmm I'll check it out...as NCCA were telling me they could attend Marque rounds as well.

209.2sec.
i run in non marque up to 1499cc. its a great class but we need some more entrants. There was only four at phillip island but one guy has been winning it for years. Lets get some more aseries dattos out there (Benny) I have itchy feet now so the crank is going in for inspection & the new fly wheel for lightening, ordered the ARP bolts today & a 4 fingured clutch. just trying to get an alloy front pulley in a reduced size at the moment & a electronic water pump. All buy the 16/7/06. for calder park sprint

Sounds like the class for me! I aim to get up and running before the end of the year with the A14 1200 Coupe. I was going to joing the NCCA (Nissan Car Club Aust) I believe they support the Marque events.

With the stock A12, stock brakes etc... was going around Sandown in the 1:40's, my unofficial best was around 1:43. Which seemed extremely fast for the stocker...but maybe shows the potential of these cars.

It would be great to have a few Datto racers on the same track and the same time!

If it was pulling 8,700 when he went for the next gear in a flat shift [& missed] then I shudder to think of the RPM when she let go, & I would suggest a VERY close examination of the crank, particularly both ends to ensure that the pulley didn't damage the snout & the flywheel didn't damage the mounting face.

[I'm guessing here, but this sounds like a classic 'spit the flywheel' scenario]

We had a race at Phillip Island on the 23rd. Well i blew up the A14. I had a big valiant chasing me down but his staright line speed was a bit much for the ol datto. So i held it a bit long in 3rd. Well 8700rpm & missed a gear was the end of my day. The crank pulley ended up on the race track at turn 1. Got 4 bent exhaust valves & i havnt checked out the bottom end yet. she will race again.

great effort,
what times were you putting in at the island?
I'll hopefully be getting amongst it with you guys soon, if I can get the CA sorted sooner rather than later
cheers
