if it's a nylock, then yes, otherwise, it'll probably get loose

if they're like mine, the stainless steel metal things are the parts that go under the window rubber, at the top there is a tab with a hole in it that is suposed to have a nylon grommet and that has a screw that goes in to the louver. those are "hinges"

thanks a lot, guys. mine's actually 1980, but i got them from someone claiming that they were for 1979; but the hatches are the same, so that was okay.

hmm i'll take a look on that site for other parts, but the ones i got off of ebay (admittedly missing screws and instructions) were for a $10 US bid and $40 US shipping, so that's an okay deal.

i don't quite get the 'hinges' that it says are on the brackets at the top, but i get the general idea. basically, just pry up the rubber and slide the bracket under it.

thanks again!

Those aren't the same as mine. Mine are Nissan parts. I have the instructions for the '79 year model ones and also the '80 ones. The Nissan ones also have a pair of latches to keep it locked down. BTW www.oldcarandtruckparts.com still has the NOS Nissan ones for sale with hardware :) I think mine was around $90 plus shipping.
Michael

edit just took another look and yours also has the latches. probably very similar parts.

What year car is it? I recently bought some NOS louvers for my '79. They came with very detailed installation instructions and drawings. Let me know if this would be useful and I could take photos and post here.
