like blofly said, just a bit of maching of the thrust bearing race and thats it.

all the speedo and everything fits up easier than a 63A or 60A 5spd apparantley.....

you can pick up a T50 box for about $250 depending on model T2 (20 output plines) or 3T (22 output splines) the T3 box is a bit stronger and has a larger input shaft bearing which is inportant to know as dellow sell different conversion kits for both the boxes.
You will need to have the nose of the gearbox machined a bit to accept the the datsun throwout bearing as the toyota and datsun parts are different. you will also need a custom made tail shaft too.
The T50 box is a better choice I believe as it has closer ratios than the Datsun 5 speeds too

If you're getting it done I'd say you'd be looking at up to $2000 for a T50.
It'll handle the a15 no worries, I believe they use these boxes behind the old holden sixes.

You'll need a nw tailshaft, new gearbox crossmember, and you'll have to do some cutting in the trans tunnel.

The Toyota T50 box with a dellow bellhousing sounds alright is this a completely easy swap ? And it should be able to handle an a15 with abit of work with ease? Where can i source one from and what to these gearboxes come out of ?

Dont jack the front of the car up to remove the box this is a big misconception and a ball breaker way .put wedges under front wheels and jack it up from the diff ,this will bring the gear box housing lower to the ground with space to work .Also when you put the box in your not having to lift it 2 foot to get it in it more like 20 cm with a scissor jack. cheers geoff

i have never used a dummy shaft to line up my clutch plate.
i just tighten up the presure plate just enough so you can still move the clutch plate then feal around the edge of the clutch to get all sides even. When all is even tighten up the presure plate and the box should slide straight in. I have never had a problem doing it this way but a dummy shaft would make it easyer if you have one

When I get around to it - I've got some pics I took of putting my gearbox back on...I've also got a few of stripping a 60 series box - just to get the input shaft out to use a a clutch alignment tool for the gearbox fitment.

All it is, is 6 bolts for the flywheel (torqued with a torque wrench mind you), 6 pressure plate bolts, an input shaft to use for alignment, 6 bellhousing bolts, a couple of bolts for starter motor and thats about it. About an hours work from no gearbox to gearbox fitted. Probably 2 hours to remove the existing from the car (+/- 5 hours) which is the standard fix car tolerance....

A weekend should be enough time if it's your daily.

It was behind an A15 that went quite hard for the week or so i had the car before i stripped it for a complete rebuild.
I agree with Ange with putting the box in yourself, it is easy as .
As far as shops go where you can buy them, I always get stuff from the wreckers.

Easiest 5spd option would have to be a Toyota T50 box with a dellow bellhousing. Im not sure of cost though.
