I run my race coupe with a standard sump with the factory baffels and have never had a oil surge probem . even at philip island which has a very long left hand corner coming onto the main staight.
The main problem was fuel stavation when i fitted a surge tank with 2 fuel pumps 1 feeding the surge tank ,the other feeding the engine

Some person can probably tell you a good level but I know with CA18's they are really sensitive to oil level. At the full mark on the dipstick they may breath a lot of oil but half way down and they are fine. If you decide to run it on the full side you should make sure you have a catch can.

Ianey, I have an idea you are going to be right. But damn, I just have to try and get rid of this feeling.
I only drove gocarts over weekends at our local gocart racetrack where you can hire a cart for a few laps.
I want to go on a REAL track with a REAL car.

The thing is that it is a bit of a mission to remove the sump with the engine still in the car.

I want to take my car to Phakisa racetrack.
Those of you who watch Motorcycle grand prix races will know that this track was used in the South African race event.
South Africa has now been removed from the Grand Prix event. Don't know why.
Anyway, for 100 south african rand you can race the whole day there.
I want to take my car there just to see what it does and to get rid of the feeling to race on a track.
Here where I live we do not have a track, Phakisa is a hour and half away from here where I live so I will have to go with two cars. The Datsun and my family car.
In case something brakes on the track and I have to tow her back home.

The car will see a max revs of 6000rpm.
I will check EVERYTHING before going on the track. Especially the oil level and water level.

The factory sump should have a little bit of baffleing in it standard. Just a couple of bits of plate in the sump near where the oil pickup is.

I raced my little Datto around a racetrack a few times without any oil dramas - so as long as it's not 8000rpm around long sweeping corners you should be fine.

But you might be interested in getting a bit more reassurance from some of the more hardcore racers.

I'd hate your engine to go bang based on just my recommendation.

Hi Guys

I want to take my car sometime in the future to our local track. I just want to see and feel what my Datsun can do on a track.
This will actually only happen after the brake upgrade.

My engine is stock GX without balancing and without a sump baffeling.
Can I do it or will I cause damage with oil starvation.
Can't I just fill the engine with oil to the max mark on the dipstick so that there is enough oil available during hard cornering?
