Hey there,
I have a whole R31 LSD at home. It's a complete car which i've started to wreck. The diff is up for sale if someone wants it. The diff is very tight and im asking $450 for it. Give me a call if your interested as im only on the net every now and then. PH 0421316757. Trent.

Or do I need to take the centre out of the EB, and use the r31 ring gear?

That's it..........

Bit of work involved though.
ie/ You'll need to set the backlash, pinion depth, pinion preload & main bearing float + give it a lap for good measure.

Not a job for the faint hearted........ You should be able to get all that done + new bearings & seals for around $600 at a diff shop.

so will the centre out of an EB on fit straight into the r31, using the ring gear from the EB and the pinion gear from the r31?

Or do I need to take the centre out of the EB, and use the r31 ring gear?

You'll be doing well to find a Silhouette LSD diff & even if you do it'll probably be worn out.

Better to get a 28 spline from a R31, then pinch an LSD centre from a EA / EB falcon or same year Fairlane.

pintaras are 25 spline, axles are no good, but you can use the brakes, housing and the crown and pinion (4.11), just get R31 axles and a 28 spline 4 pinion lsd, my hemi is from a VN v8 commonwhore, when i got it rebuilt they said the only way to kill the diff, is to do donuts, it stuffs the cones in the lsd, they said straight line launches are fine.

but there is different types of lsd in the r31 diffs too
my cousin has a s3 r31 sill and his diff is 4 pin type (or something like that - its got 4 thingies in there anyway) whereas some other r31 lsd's (and non) had only 2 pin

im not entirelly sure on this, can someone shed some light on this too?
it not 4pin, but something like that - its got 4 thingies in it instead of 2, the 4 one being stronger
and he found that out the hard way, cause he rebuilt it himself (new cones, shims, tightened it all up nicely again) and had some trouble with it

same guts, different discs/handbrake, and 5 stud. Axles are same.

We are talking about BW78 diffs.

The only decent LSD center that I know of, is a Kaaz one at > $1500 new.
