I converted to LPG not under any government grants, but I did do it. My car is actually un-registrable in my state, since we have wanky laws that prevent anyone from easily converting.

As long as Petrol is 1/3'd more expensive than LPG you will come out ahead.

you save big on oil changes and related services.

you may get worse milage in town and as good or better.

lpg is very high octane, so you want higher compression - if you get the compression up 12:1 the lpg will yield more power than petrol.

LPG systems have their own quirks...

personally I like LPG - i only burn it, no petrol tank at all... lpg only also helps with efficiency.

It's cleaner than petrol, smells better...

what equipment do you get? I used OMVL from italy, and Autronic for the o2 sensor system.

I used a GA16 throttlebody with mine - since i can use the TPS ;) and it makes plumbing easier.

drove mine on a long trip and it works fine, just plan your route and take a spare bottle incase you run out...

A good starting point would be to grap all of the gas gear off a nissan forklift truck fitted with an A-series. I drove one for years [1.5 tonne with A15 on gas.]

cheers

Yes you pay first and, they pay you back... If you can find a second hand gas kit and get someone to fit it you may end up making a bit of cash on the deal.

Cheers. Adam.
