Ive seen that sort of thing on a DHLA Dellorto equipped alfa, they use inch thick rubber mounts instead of any manifold at all. I havent had any fuel problems with what i am running (lynx mounts) no leaking either.

My Weber book shows in detail the support bracket & rod that is supposed to be used with these carbs. The bracket is bolted on using the air horn bolts & a rod runs down to [presumably] a bracket that is secured by the sump bolts.
If there is a threaded boss on the block, I guess that this could be used too.

Me earlier musings actually related to fuel frothing & I should have made that clear. The support rod will overcome flange cracking.

Would people be using them to increase runner vol ?

Dodgeman, with the mention of the casting cracking, the weight of the carb mounted horizontally is a fair bit more than a SU carb.

Why is it, ... I wonder, ... that no other carb type needs these 'soft mounts'? Not even SU's which is also a sidedraught type. Nor do ther Stromberg CD's for that matter.

I did notice on the instructions, it mentions do not overtighten the nyloc nuts because it squashes down the rubber insulators.

just in case it wasnt clear, they reduce the vibrations from the motor (which is what causes the fuel to froth)

as far as i know they are a must, but never tried without them

pp'l say u can crack/break the carbies if u dont.. also it stops vibration which can cause fuel mixing problems.

They are soft mounted to stop frothing of the fuel. Leaking and fire is an issue with soft mounts with the headers below the carbs, follow directions on the packet do not overtighten the nuts.

Try to get hold of some old Lynx soft mounts much better than redline ones.

Hi guys, I was wondering if there is any benifit to using a "soft-mount" carbie mounting kit on my A15 as apposed to using just normal paper gaskets?
I am using twin 40mm dellorto's on a redline manifold?
