woody, there was no A15 "GX" engine.

Both gaskets in the photo above are for A15 and A14 engines. It just depends on what car, country and year the engine came out of. Some inlet manifolds were water-heated and some were not. Some emission-controlled engines used the water-heated manifold.

I don't know the parts numbers. The "full" gasket kit I have for A14 & A15 only includes the gasket with water holes. Apparently it works on both types of engines.

Yeh my A15 has the 3 small holes for inlet manifold warming for cold weather starting. I just ordered a A15 gasket of a parts supplier we use at work and it was the right one. It has like a extra loop around these coolant holes to seal them up. I have also seen what they listed as a A14 manifold gasket that is identical but doesnt have a loop. I think the brand was ACL.

I can now use either gasket as i have tapped and pluged t he coolant holes.

You think maybe he thinks the unused stud holes are water passages?

Heads without the water holes can generally use a gasket that has the holes. Most manufacturers make one gasket that fits many engines. Even Nissan has replaced several gasket Part Numbers with a single gasket.

The A15 gasket is shared by *most* A14s. But some A14s have a round-port head.

The A12GX gasket has much larger port openings. This is also used the Datsun Competition A14 heads.

above the oval shaped holes in the gasket there is 2 water jackets?
Maybe he has it upside-down. There are two small round water-jacket holes below the intake ports. GX gaskets have this, and so do "most" A14 gaskets. But the early A14 did not.

i work for supercheap auto and yesterday a customer who is doing an A15 conversion into a morris minor came back with a specially ordered gasket for the car saying that it was wrong. it said that it was for and A14 on the gasket but in the computer system it said that it also suited an A15. the gasket fits other than above the oval shaped holes in the gasket there is 2 water jackets? or what he described as water slots does this sound right to you? (he purchased the engine as it is so he doesnt know if it is even standard)
i have the part number HR-354 from gasmisier but every other supplyer uses the same gasket number except there is 2 listings for acl one is HR-354 the other is HR-354EX i think so im not sure what to do
could it be a gx A15 head? im not sure that there was even a A15 gx
also the car is running a small weber that is water cooled?????? im seriously confused.
any info on recent gasket changes or even part numbers/brands that you have used would be extremly usefull
thanks guys
p.s. i am currently surfing the wiki for hints
