balancing not only the crank shaft but also the conrods and pistons.
A full bottom end balance will get you to run higher than 8500rpm , perhaps as much as 9500rpm with quality bearings and valve train components.
I paid $1150 for my race ported head but it was a new old stock item never used before so I was wraped with the price I got it for

as for balancing, for the $200 odd dollars you will spend it is most definatly worth it
but you wouldnt just balance the crank you would have the whole bottom end done

definatly worth getting it done when the engine is apart

For a full head it would be alot.

Recut spring seats
New valve guides
New valve seats
Mill the face
New Valves
Springs
Cost of seats and guides
Flowbench
Port plus the cambers.

= a ####ing #### load.

how do you tell if its a gx head or not? I found this one out in the bush on a wrecked A15 120y so not sure it looked like it had been burnt out but the head doesnt seem to be damaged

For a full on port, valve and seat and guide job, i would allow for $1000 AU.. It would be best to speak to jeff taylor directly.
