im a boatbuilder and yes fibreglass is very nasty sh**, great for building boats, not very good for repairing cars (unless the car has fibreglass panels/body of course )

rule of thumb, fix steel with steel (+bog)
good luck

Id say remove the gaurds, cut a piece of sheet metal to the right size and if you don't have a mig or tig take it to an exhaust shop or something so it can be welded in place and im sure they can do it in like 10mins. Then when the patch is welded in apply some bog and smooth it out. I like to stay away from fibreglass its some nasty ####

Well, we don't know where you are, but if you are in Australia, & if you are talking about the blinker lights on the front guards, then they are a legal requirement for street use & simply removing them may well cause some grief sometime down the track with rego Nazi's, so just be aware.

If this is for a racer, then weld a patch in there. [or get one put in by a professional]

Fiberglass is sticky splintery #### that caused me all sorts of problems. I use automotive body fill or builders bog . if do it rite and use putty to smoothen it over it is alot less work and dries faster where i live so i can bog it up the day b4 i race and know1 will know. but thats just my opinion.-Lisa

I would be getting them welded up, you will have to pay someone but it wont cost much, and as you are going to the trouble of painting it you want it done properly, you dont want it cracking throught the new paint in 12 months time.

I want to shave my side markers in prep for painting so I'll need to glass over the holes. What are the best resources for someone who has never done fiberglass before.
Thanks,
Ryan
